How You Got It

Whether you simply love food or just had a child and are left with excess belly fat, there are ways to eliminate it. You didn't get it overnight and you certainly won't lose it overnight, either. Before you even attempt to lose that belly fat, realize that it will probably take several months of dedication and hard work. Yes, dieting is one of the best and most effective ways to lose fat, but it is not the only method. What I mean by dieting is changing your diet - eating healthy, nutritious foods of the correct portions - not consuming diet foods (like those 100-calorie snack packs). Discover five healthy ways to lose belly fat without dieting below.

Tip #1 - Eliminate Sugary Beverages

If you want to lose your belly fat without cutting down on your favorite foods, then consider eliminating all those sugary, high-calorie drinks that are contributing to your weight. Soda is a highly addictive beverage that is making you fat. Yes, even DIET soda is making you fat because it contains artificial sweeteners that make you body crave carbohydrates. Not to mention, these fake sweeteners actually cause toxic buildup and cell death in your body! Regular sugar, on the other hand, causes your body switch into the fat storage mode, rather than fat-burning mode. So, the next time you crave that can of soda, remember what it's doing to your body. There are plenty of healthier options that your body will thank you for. For example, homemade fruit smoothies (taste great) or naturally sweetened tea. Water, of course, is what your body really craves!

Tip #2 - Eat More Apples

You probably already know that apples are great for your body, but they are also proven to help with weight loss. Apples are high in fiber, which keeps you fuller longer, and the enzymes found in apples help your body digest food better. Eat an apple with every meal to help control your appetite and slow down the digestion of food. Your body will feel fuller longer, and you won't be as tempted to reach for dessert or snacks an hour later. If you don't love apples, eat pears or another high-fiber fruit instead for the same effect.

Tip #3 - Drink Lots of Water

Drinking water not only flushes harmful toxins out of your body, it really helps you lose belly fat. Studies have shown that drinking a glass of water before every meal results in less calories consumed because your body feels fuller, and then you ultimately lose weight. According to a study on water-induced thermogenesis, cold water actually elevates the metabolism because the body is forced to warm up. As a result, men burned more fat and women burned more carbohydrates. Lastly, sipping on water throughout the day also keeps you fuller and less prone to snacking.

Tip #4 - Boost Your Metabolism

The speed of your metabolism is directly related to how quickly or efficiently your body loses weight. Slower metabolism is linked to slower weight loss, while thinner individuals are known to have faster metabolisms. Fortunately, there are ways to speed up your metabolism without dieting. Drinking more water, adding more greens to your meals, spicing up your foods with hot sauces or peppers, drinking green tea, and building muscle are great ways to boost your metabolism. Eating small, healthy snacks every four hours also helps speed up and regulate your metabolism because your body won't let it slow down. Consuming few, larger meals, on the other hand, actually forces your metabolism to become slower.

Tip #5 - Get Moving

Exercise, of course, is another healthy way to lose belly fat without altering your diet. It's important to find a way to get active, regardless of how you do it. There is no perfect exercise routine for everyone, so find something that interests you. Not everyone is meant to be in a gym, and it's okay if you would rather go biking, walking, swimming, rock climbing, or dancing. Becoming more active on a daily basis is the important part, even if that means just walking to the convenience store on the corner instead of driving. However, the more cardio you do, the more results you will experience. Don't try to transform fat into muscle, it doesn't work that way! You will just have muscle under all your belly fat! You have to burn the fat BEFORE you can build muscle. If needed, a personal trainer or wellness coach can help you identify your personal weight loss needs and achieve them.
